TGI Friday annoyance

My wife has organised a gathering of good friends for my 30th birthday next month and booked a table for 15 at TGI Friday's.

The numbers have increased to 26 so last night my wife rang TGI's and asked if she could increase the booking. After 10 mins wait the girl came back and said no they only take bookings that big during the week Mon-Thurs.

My wife asked if they were fully booked and had no room and that we didnt mind being split up, she said no there was room they just didnt take bookings that large on a Saturday. She cancelled the table of 15.

Recession what recession! Obviously TGI's dont need our custom!??

  • Fair play to TGI's if you ask me - they're obviously realistic about what they're able to do as regards getting food out on time to such a big table, and they're prepared to potentially lose the revenue in order that the quality of food and service remains up to standard.

Annoying, I know - but you can't fault them for that attitude!

I accept that but its the fact we said we didnt mind being split up I wondered about. Im sure they could cope with 2 separate tables?

I'm not particularly bothered it's their loss not mine.

Why not just book an extra table? Use two names. Once you have the booking ring back and ask if you be seated near the other table "as you have just found out a friend also has a table booked"

I don't think TGI's are out or order to be honest.

Friday and Saturday are their busiest days of the week, they can't risk losing 26 heads if you don't show up and having a reserved area empty for an hour or two... and on the other hand 26 is a lot of people... they'll also not want to risk upsetting other customers if you're too loud. I've been to TGI's when there's been groups of 8-12 people and the noise was OMG! I'm not saying you'll be like that, but it's something TGI's have to think about, they won't want to be handing out free meals to other customers all night because of complaints.

As I said I'm not overly bothered, we have booked somewhere else now anyway.

It's a shame because I too like TGI's and I can appreciate its a lot of people I suppose cant help being popular now can I!?
