defrag help needed .

Hi all,

I am trying to defrag my p.c but it seems to be stuck at 1% done. I've pressed ctrl , alt, del and it is running so it says but not budging from 1% do defrags take ages ???

My p.c has a problem staying on and im scared its going to turn off half done , today and yesterday i have been starting my p.c up and then as soon as i get on with what i want to do it turns off . any ideas what it could be ( ive cleaned it so its not dust )

Are you perhaps able to run the defrag in safe mode katie?

hi, make sure nothing is running in the background, screen savers etc.
defrag can also be done in Dos, or C:>

Hi Katie - I wouldn't normally have suggested this for the problem you have mentioned, but from another thread you just posted in, it's most likely virus activity that is stopping the defrag. You need to clean up the PC first, as I mentioned
