DFS problem - not sure if this is the right place to post!

Hi

We made an order in store with DFS (3 seat sofa, 2 seat sofabed, tub chair, all stainguarded) on 31st December and paid a deposit, we were told delivery time was 6 weeks and that we had 14 days to decide about the stainguard, sofa feet etc as the order wouldn't be processed to the warehouse until then.

Anyway, our house buying costs started mounting more than we expected so on 11th Jan we made the decision to change the sofabed to a 2 seat sofa, cancel the tub chair and the stainguard. My partner phoned the guy we'd spoke to who said this was all fine and we would receive confirmation in the post.

The confirmation didn't arrive but as it's only been 10 days we did't worry too much. However, today we've had a call saying the order has already been built and that it's too late to cancel anything. They will try to reallocate the order but if they can't be have to take it. Where do we stand with this? We suspect the guy has not actually processed our change and that he's trying to cover his back, but then we are quite suspicious types!

My thoughts are that this is their problem not ours, but I am concerned about the lack of paper trail. My partner is trying to call them back as we speak but I just wanted some more opinions as this is a difference of about £700.

Thanks!

Looks like could only change your mind about the extras - stainguard, feet etc, not the furniture.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

He said we could change our mind about anything, and agreed to this on the phone when we called him on the 12th day after the order. The fact is, they have agreed to this and then not done anything about it.

They've now said they think they'll be able to shift the excess furniture over this weekend and then re-order our stuff on Monday, with a 3 week turnaround again - but if they can't, that's when we'll get the gloves out!
  • My parents have had problems with DFS. They bought a sofa and were guranteed it for Christmas,as they purchased it 3-4weeks prior this. They only received it last week after a string of phonecalls, rubbish customer care and no apologies. Terrible!

Cancel everything. Let them have the £150 as compensation and go and find a store who sell furntiure and not finance packages.

Search for "DFS problems" and you'll find thousands.

    Here's a few
