Just refuse to sign the satisfaction note, if you are not 100% happy.

Look for paint runs, overspray, poorly matched paintwork etc.

You should not be able to see any evidence of the repair at all, if you can, reject it.

Expect paint runs, panel gaps not correct, loose hoses and electrical issues. All have happened to me and not all were spotted on collection. Be very very thorough in your handover inspection.
  • one thing i will say is that after the crash i started to get some noise from the front wheel bearing on the side that got hit.

i got them to note it down and they have checked it and said there is no fault with it and if there is noise it isnt because of the accident.

now i had the car mot'd about a month before the crash and there were no problems with the wheel bearing then so is there anything i can do to get them to rethink their answer??
  • ok so i picked the motor up and friday when it was pising down, already i could see that the paint didnt match the bonnet, bumper and a pillar.
so they are having it back in to do the blending work.
however over the last couple of days ive notcied a few more things wrong.
bits of trim that have been broke and then stuck back on with mastic, black paint spots over the bonnet and bumper and light, a big cross mark on the window where they have took some masking tape off.
so im going to contact my insurance tomorrow and let them know im not happy!!

What colour is your car, not silver by any chance?
  • its a light silver/blue metallic.

the painter tried to pass it off saying it was"the angle of the paint" !!!

Silver metallics, actually metallics in general are notoriously the worst colours to get a good match. I had a silver Audi A3 that had to go through 3 resprays until it was anywhere near close enough and even then I could still tell.

Actually they're not talking bull when they mention "angle of the paint", one of the notorious problems with metallics is not being able to match the angle and quantity of metallic flakes in the paint from the original factory finish. That's why blending is so important.
  • I've had a couple of repairs done in the past to be honest I've never been happy with any of them. Typical problems include less than perfect panel fit and overspray on windows, once they actually broke my headlamp (must have hit it off something in the yard) and tried to blame it on me!
