Both good choices and generally reliable. There's a 22" Samsung on offer at Sainsbury's at the minute at £199 with a TV-tuner inbuilt if that's any interest. Look for one with a HDMI input and/or DVI as well as VGA as these are the latest connections on most modern PC's. (in case you want to upgrade at a later date)
Viewsonic are a particular favourite of mine though....

I have Samsung, LG and Viewsonic monitors. Only the Viewsonic has caused any problems - the DVI port packed up after three years but the VGA port was fine. I also have an LG TV (22 inch, very nice) and a Samsung TV (40 inch, very very very nice!). If I had to choose between the two brands I would go for the Samsung i.e. that's what I'll be buying next time.0

Samsung and good but if you can go the extra Dell are even better the ultrasharp range are one of the best monitors they use best panels on market but not cheap
I have a viewsonic reliable but problematic due to drivers support I found, hence why I gave it to my daughter and went for a Dell0
