the other thing was that they'd not received our spa bookings and it was too late to book when we got there so if you are booking anything double and triple check. No apology either, there was a shrug and a 'what can you do' type attitude...
This just reminds me of a time we went to the Shandon Hotel in Donegal with a couple of Canadian friends. We checked in at the reception and as we were about to head off to our rooms one of our Canadian friends went back to reception to check that they had definitely been given a non smoking room. The receptionist reply......... You don't have to smoke in it if you don't want to LOL. I thought I'd heard it all.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

Mary Deeney's bar and restaurant isn't too bad for a bite to eat - it's a couple of miles outside Muff and on the way to Redcastle (on your left hand side - has a thatched roof).
As previous posts have said - loads of eating places in Derry. Also just outside Derry is Harry's in Bridgend - been a while since I've eaten there but always enjoyed it when I did!
I'm from Culdaff which is about 15 miles from Redcastle - and living in Derry - so PM me with any questions about irections or anything like that0 -

Thank you Declan.
Well we had a nice time away, the hotel was 'just ok' needs a good facelift, lots of wear and tear. It was good value for what we paid though, I would have been miffed if I had paid more. We ate in the hotel the first night and we ate in L/Derry the second - Flamin Jacks. I am not sure if I would go back again, if it was a really good deal then yes but I would recommed the Radisson Roe, Killyhevlin etc before the Carlton Redcastle. Still glad of the break!Norn Iron club member - 2650 -

So one to avoid then Jamie:(
I was at the sister in laws wedding a few years back and the food etc... was OK, decor was reasonably new, but Hotels get run down if not spruced up every few years:o
Next time try the Manor House Hotel outside Enniskillen, I had a wonderful and peaceful break there a few years back:)
PS Sorry about the wrong Ferry advice but the Ferry was parked at the quay in Stroke City the past few months, I assumed it was off, unless they have 2 ??I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -

No worries! we heard elsewhere the ferry was off too, tbh just as quick for us to drive up over the Glenshane and over the Foyle bridge. The next hotel I would like to try is the Galgorm, but £££ !Norn Iron club member - 2650
