We are off here on Monday for a few days, got the hotel for €49 a night B&B! but does anyone know that area of Donegal? It's in Moville. Is there anywhere outside the hotel, a pub etc for food/drinks, rather than paying hotel prices (stingy gits lol)
Also driving from Belfast would you go via the Magillian ferry or through L/Derry? Both seem just as long/easy?

I've stayed there. There's not a lot in the local area to be honest, the hotel itself is outside moville along quite a busy road. We did eat in Moville one night but I don't remember where. if you can cope with a bit of a drive, we ate in this place in Buncrana once

and it was really nice. We were there at a weekend and it was very busy so maybe worth booking ahead if you're intersted.
The food at the hotel itself was ok (we had a dinner included as part of the deal) but the service was really awful.
the other thing was that they'd not received our spa bookings and it was too late to book when we got there so if you are booking anything double and triple check. No apology either, there was a shrug and a 'what can you do' type attitude...
Not to put you off but I wasn't impressed, nice to be beside the water but I wouldn't be going back. Mind you you got an excellent price!!0 -
You could always visit.... Muff :-)

Thank you! My over organised skills come in useful as I always double check bookings. Will check again tomorrow. I did book directly with the spa though?
That's why we are going because of the rate :rotfl: so will give it a go, I have heard of a few friends who have been and enjoyed it. If anything will go wrong, it will happen to me though, my luck lol
What way did you drive up, did you use the ferry ?

Redcastle hotel is in Redcastle a few miles short of Moville, plenty of pubs and places to eat in Moville, but they aren't cheap:eek: Greencastle is nice too but a lot smaller, just a bit further up the coast.
The Ferry is not currently on at present (funding issues) so don't go to Magilligan as its a long swim:o
You will have to travel through Stroke City to get there instead, remember to stop off at a supermarket before crossing the border to stock up on all the essentials like a wee bottle of your favourite spirit and mixers;) Alcohol is very expensive in the south at present and even worse in the hotels:eek: (thats why you get €49 per night;))
Evening meals may be cheaper to come back to L'Derry for:eek: (seriously) massive selection of bars and eateries in and about the town and its only 20-25 minutes away by car;)
Oh and have a lovely break, and take your clubs if your into golf, nice course at the Hotel;)I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -

Thank you! :T Oh yes we will have our blue bags with us;), we had thought of heading back into L/Derry for meals, might just do that, been to L/Derry a few times.
H's golf clubs are ready to go too, hopefully it will stay dry enough to get out on the course.

Ahhh Good stuff:T enjoy the break, scenery is lovely providing its not peeing down:o
If its dry and your feeling up to it take the coastline walking path from Moville to Greencastle, its lovely:)
Fingers crossed for some dry weather for you:)I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
We have stayed there a couple of times and really enjoyed are stay. Derry/ Londonderry is only a half hour drive and we went there for a couple of hours one afternoon. I thought Moville was quite limited for eateries and between are two visits some places had closed down. The hotel bar from what I remember was not that much dearer than anywhere else in the area to eat. Again we had a four course meal included in our deal both times we visited but ate in the bar other night. Enjoy the spa:j0
