Is that on JSA/IS CTB and LHA though!fluffymovie wrote: »If the dad is of pension age (60 or up), then it would be anything over £10,000 rather than £6000
I thought the £10000 applied to PC only!0 -
The £10,000 applies for HB/CTB/LHA but not sure about JSA / IS.I currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

Do you mean that the client over 60 can have £10,000 savings before it effects HB/LHA/CTB even if they do not claim PCs;fluffymovie wrote: »The £10,000 applies for HB/CTB/LHA but not sure about JSA / IS.
or do you mean that the claimant over 60 can have £10000 LHA/CTB/HB if they claim PCs. [Though savings should not effect HB/LHA/CTB if they are claiming PC].0 -
My parents do not qualify for Council Tax Benfit or Housing Benefit due to the fact that I live with them (adult child non-dependent on 14k annual income from full-time job). So it is just the Child Benefits for mum and Pensions for dad that they have. He doesn't qualify for Pension Credit either (over the £195 limit). They think they are allowed £1000 in each of the 3 childrens savings accounts and £3000 in their joint bank account. Making a total of £6000 altogether. Is this correct?0

The Child Benefits claims are in mum's name only - so I don't think the £10000 limit comes into it even though the payments go to their joint bank account. They were advised to put the claim wholly in her name as she has never worked and hasn't built up any pension entitlement. So should be savings up to £6000 altogether?0
