wow,i want one of these after reading your reply,my stick blender/chopper has just broke, was going to just replace it but think i'll go for mini chopper now.thanks!:)
Aaah, gem68, the 'curse of OS' strikes again. People talk about gadgets which make them more thrifty and life easier and I then need to dash out and buy the gadget. So far I have bought a SC because people on here love them (I absolutely HATE it and am about to Freecycle it) a new pressure cooker (I LOVE it and it's been wonderful) and a few other cheaper things. If it's possible why not borrow a mini chopper to see if you like it....I'd hate to think that you bought one and didn't get on with it ! (But I do find mine really useful.....) :beer:0 -

Shame- i know some people just can't get on with slow cookers at all. What don't you like about it ? Genuine curiousity
Speaking of choppers - this one was £15 - only had it from the beginning of february but it's been wondrous.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Hi Zippychick - congratulations on your 'promotion' ! I used to have a SC many years ago when they first came out and I worked and it made great stews to come back from work to - tho you did have to get it all hot before putting it in and frying onions first thing wasnt ideal. It had only one setting and I liked it. A year or so ago, after reading on here how much people loved them I bought a new one with 2 heat settings and a smart removable pot and I started doing stews, chicken and stocks in it. I find it gives off a strange chemical smell when its on (I thought that was just bcasue it was new and would wear off, but it didn't) and I find that (tho I am a good cook and very inventive with spices and seasonings etc) everything I make in it tastes the same (and ever so slightly chemical-smelling like the SC), and it all falls apart. The two heats are not terribly helpful because although they now say you can put things in it cold and switch the heat down when it's all up to heat you actually have to be in the house to do that, which seems to destroy the point of the thing. So I bought a Kuhn Rikon PC to replace my Tefal one and I absolutely LOVE it - it doesn't hiss and splutter so is completely non-scary and they do a nice little recipe book which is very helpful, AND the house doesn't smell of food all day.
I am sure this is an individual personality thing - I love the idea of a lightbulb's worth of energy cooking a lovely stew or chicken for me all day, but in effect the SC just didn't work for me and the PC does !
Phew - sorry to go on, but you did ask !!!!0 -
Bought the Kenwood mini chopper three weeks ago. It did some nuts (sort of), then when I tried mushrooms it ceased going around. Checked it over and a little bit on the metal spindle had broken off and the inside plastic of the blade was all broken. Did I do that or was it like that when I bought it? Anyway the shop changed it without a quibble. They did ask if I wanted my money back but I had an exchange instead. (I did have the reciept). Has anyone else's broken like mine did?0

NO, I would guess it's just been a faukty one. Going back to the OP, I use mine for pesto, tapenade, houmus, curry pastes, mayonnaise (kind of works!) and chopping tinned tomaoteos for tomatoes sauce as I have child who doesn't like "bits".It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0
