Sounds to me like you think having a PA is basically having a glorified skivvy to do with what you please. I would never have dreamed of treating staff like that!! Different if the offer was made by them if they going to shops anyway (and reciprocated if I was) but certainly not expected of them. You must be a blast to work for!!

What is the point of having a PA if not to get them doing the admin tasks you don't have time for?

I agree however, since when was organising what you are going to have for dinner an "admin" task?

If you get your employees to do personal work for you, then that proportion of their wages is a benefit in kind (if you are an employee), or should be added back in your self assessment (if you are self employed).

You have customers coming / a meeting organised and you want to arrange for some food to be put on during the meeting?

Again, not what I originally commented on. The example above is relating to company requirements, not a duty thats expected to be carried out by a secretary because her boss cant be a*sed!

I assume things like popping out to get you a pint of milk or organise what you having for dinner isnt in her job description so what would make it reasonable?!!! Ah, get it thanks. Wasnt clear (which I think other people have also said). If this referred to stuff in the office context then totally fine IMO. Apologies to PolishBigSpender if this is what you meant. I take it all back! The "there to do as you please" threw me. Sorry.

p.s Thanks TM1976 for pointing out my possible error in interpretation.
