As mentioned this is rubbish. Also even if it wasn't, that could easily be solved by (for example) the agent sending a list of first names plus the first initial of the surname.0 -

I do wish that people would read and understand the DPA before quoting the DPA. Some companies seem to use the DPA as a way of avoiding questions where they do not know they answer.
OP......as an EA I have provided names (only) to other EA's for the purpose of making sure that all parties involved were aware of who introduced who and in what circumstances commission is due.
Providing a list of names is not a breach of the DPA!My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

The EA was asked to send list to my friends solicitor but refused. So my friend just stuck with the first EA.0 -
Thank you all and especially the two agents on the thread. It has given me more confidence to tackle the matter now.0

That's the case that went to the Court of Appeal. It's clear that although the first judge ruled on behalf of Foxtons, the Court of Appeal held that Foxtons did not introduce the eventual buyer to the sale, despite the initial viewing being arranged through Foxtons. Hope that helps.
Just read the case and thank goodness I am not in the legal profession as it took some reading:eek:0
