Hi
I have a question, i hope someone can help.
We are in the process of applying for planning permission to convert the garage/barns at my parents house.
Dad is worried about not having a garage so wondered if anyone knows a rough price to build a double garage?
Either wood or brick, so it can be used for car storage & DIY etc
thanks :money:

It depends on your specifcations, if you want single 100mm block or 150mm block, cavity work etc, rendered or not.
Also roof type be it trussed, pitched, flat and which coverings you require, such as slate, tile, fibreglass, felt, plastic coated sheets.
Also dimensions, type and size of windows, manual or electric doors, rollershutters or other.
The variations are many so an estimate would require all of the above, if you give me some idea I'll try and work something out for you0 -

There is a really informative article on lets-do-diy.com under the 'average cost to build a garage'
A rough estimate is £200 - £300 per square metre, but there are also other factors to consider, such as roof structure (flat is much cheaper but more liable to leak) and whether you'll be connecting utilities to the new building.0
