Help needed. PC not recognising ipod and deleting cookies

Hi,
I desperately need help with my PC - it is driving me crazy. Basically, in the last week, it has been automatically deleting my cookies(I think). Whenever I visit one of my 'regular' sites, I have to sign in every time (it doesn't 'remember me' anymore), and when I go onto some other sites, it has deleted my settings. I don't know why, or how to fix it. I haven't added any programmes or changed my settings, or anything.
Also, I am having problems with my ipod (nano). The computer isn't recognising it anymore. I see there is a section on the ipod 'help' pages for this, but I thought it was probably related to the problem above, so have not tried to fix the ipod problem yet.
Any ideas? ps I am not very technically minded
thanks

Which browser? Could you try an alternative browser and see if that makes a difference...IE, Opera, Firefox (my choice).

Give it a go.

The http://noscript.net/ add-on0

Thanks for that. I'll get firefox and try that.
Do you think that will cure the ipod problem too? or do you think that is a separate issue?

I am almost certain that it is a separate issue pink...

Well, I have now got firefox, and that add-on too. I can't believe I didn't use it before!! It seems to have resolved my cookie problems, and is loads faster too. As for the ipod - I have had enough of PC's today - I'm going to sort that problem out tomorrow! Thanks busenbust - you have made my day get better0 -
