    the "tick" may just have been a mark in the box (perhaps you rested a pen there while you considered the option) this could have picked up by the computer as an entry and the award based on this premise.
    you should have read the award notice as it would have said YOU receive DLA and the kids would have shown as receiving DLA also. unfortunatley not reading it or not realising is not a valid excuse.

    they would only ever ask for the overpaid amount back not the interest...unless the COMPLIANCE teams were involved (the investigation side of the IR).

    i would certainly dispute the overpayment by completing a COP26, state in it that you believe foul play may be behind it if you suspect ex's partner may be interfering.

    as much as CAB do a good job, they will only be able to get the same result as calling the helpline (cop26/complaint route).

    any debts you have will need to be taken into account if the o/pmt stands and the money clawed back.

    Thank you, and yes it was the investigation part of IR, so interest is applied from 31st oct 2005.
