Firstly feel like I can breathe again after all the kind, helpful and thoughtful people on this board:A
Had a phone call re IVA with ccsva they don't think we would have an iva accepted, as
majority of debt 25k in my name and I am at home with our little ones
Rest of debt 15k in husbands name and he is the earner, so husbands creditors would be likely to reject as unfair to them, and half of his debt is mbna
we only have £276 to offer as payment at the moment, but husband is seeking promotion and I will be looking for work for sept (teaching - so should be able to get something.)
Pointing us to low start dmp 9yrs repayment if creditors play ball....but faster as get work.
Any thoughts anyone?
Thanks

If CCCSVA don't feel an IVA is feasible at present then as they suggest go for a DMP. Their sister company CCCS can help you with that. A DMP will be reviewed from time to time and you may find that 9 year timescale, though horrific-sounding at present, can be cut as your income rises and as you get clever with budgeting. In a couple of years or so you may be able to revisit the idea of an IVA if you wish, and it might be feasible then. Or you might decide to stick with the DMP. Whatever you decide is not necessarily set in stone as events and circumstances change. Make that call to CCCS (if you want to go through them, there are other organisations as well, but CCCS and Payplan do not charge you for DMPs) and get your DMP up and running. Then nip over to the DFW board, find the DMP mutual support thread and join in - you will get lots of support on there. One life - your life - live it!0
