Noticed on the weekly mail the offer re 0% transfer and 0% handling charge on the Abbey/Santander Zero card. You need to have a mortgage and a bank account. I have bot PLUS an ISA and a ESaver.
Applied and was told that because I am exisitng holder of the Zero Card I do not qualify for the offer!
Closed my card even though I was informed that I cannot reapply for 6 months so.....am now going to close all my accounts with Santander as this is obviously how they are going to be LOYAL to their existing customers!
My credit rating is perfect and I even over pay on my mortgage every month!

Loyalty means nothing to banks these days. Profits means more than loyalty. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
That's not correct. The offer clearly says mortgage OR current account, not both.chrisrsmith wrote: »You need to have a mortgage and a bank account.
If the rates are good you'll be penalising yourself won't you? And if they're bad then why on earth haven't you sorted your affairs out sooner?...am now going to close all my accounts with Santander...
Principles usually cost money, especially with product fees these days for many of the better mortgage rates. How much are yours going to cost you?
Has it ever?ElkyElky wrote:Loyalty means nothing to banks these days.0 -

This is no different from other situations if you already hold a product you cannot have the same product if there is an offer on it. While not universal, it is generally the case.chrisrsmith wrote: »Closed my card even though I was informed that I cannot reapply for 6 months so.....am now going to close all my accounts with Santander as this is obviously how they are going to be LOYAL to their existing customers!
Santander are being loyal by offering 0% handling fees to their customers. All others have pay fees for BT. You need to understand the business case behind the scheme: Santander want to retain and sell more products to existing customers - you already have one Zero CC so you are not a target customer. They want to attract new customers by offering a reward for opening an associated a/c (fee free BT on Zero card, if a Santander a/c is opened).chrisrsmith wrote: »My credit rating is perfect and I even over pay on my mortgage every month!
This has nothing to do with loyalty...you have managed you finances well and that benefits YOU more than anyone else!0
