Cresta hoidays & Ryanair

We have just had a 2 night break in Dublin, It was booked with Cresta who used Ryanair. At no point were we supplied baggage allowance details. We booked through Going Places who arranged the booking over the phone. Upon our return we had one suitcase holding the belongings of 2 adults & 1 infant. At Dublin airport we were charged excess baggage of 60 Euros. We tried to explain the we had one bag for all our belongings but were iinformed that they calculate allowances per bag not per person. I am angry at:
Ryanair for their crap 'terms and condtions'
Cresta for not informing their customers
Going Places for being ignorant of the whole situation
we are making a claim against Cresta for not letting us know the'rules'

Every airline I've ever travelled with has had the baggage allowance printed on the ticket. It's worked on a per person basis regardless of how many bags and I think its usually 20Kg per person but not sure about infants.
I find it very hard to believe that nowhere along the line were you not informed of the baggage allowance.
I doubt very much that you'd have any kind of claim against Cresta
In fact I've just had a quick look at the Terms and Conditions
on the Ryanair website and baggage allowance is right at the top of the list, and is very clear.
Edit: Actually after reading that back it really comes across as being a bit cold so apologies for that and I'm sorry that you had the drama at the airport. I may be wrong but I really doubt you'll get any recourse on this because Ryanair's T&C's are pretty clear on baggage allowances. It's 20Kg per person and none for an infant apart from a travel cot or buggy. After Nov 1st it reduces to 15Kg per person.0 -
Whilst it would have been good service for someone along the line to highlight the limits to you I would have thought that if you hadnt been told that you would have gone out and found out before packing given the number of horror stories of massive excess baggage charges particularly with the low cost carriers like RyanairAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

The people to blame are the ones you actually booked your holiday with and gave your money to.
Ryanair can hardly be responsible for the booking agent not making you aware of their allowances.
Seek compensation from Cresta and if they don`t cough up takes them to the "small claims".0 -
When you use a cheap budget airline they will have every trick in the trade to get addiitional money off you .. they are all the same ... the recent trend seems to be to charge you a couple of quid to check your baggage in the hold (if you book prepay online) or double the amount if you turn up at the airport with bags). Welcome to the world of cheap and nasty flights offering cheap and nasty service from cheap and nasty staff.

I've never flown Ryanair and have every intention of never doing so.There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

Still can`t see how it`s Ryanairs fault.
The fault lies with Cresta.
The budget airlines are doing a great job, cutting fares and letting joe public fly all over the place.
Every week on the Easyjet tv program you see people ranting and raving but the truth of the matter is it`s their own fault.
When you book your airfare as long as you READ the T&C and STICK to them, you should be OK.
Trouble is people don`t and then they get into trouble.0 -
We have flown a few times with Ryan air and found them to be really good...one way to check baggage allowances is to check their website...surely that is easier than a big huge fuss at the airport?
Sorry if that sounds callous but it saves money and stress levels in the long run.
