Advice On Cooker Hood Extractor In New Home

Recently moved into new house and have found a bit of a problem with the Cooker Hood Extractor.
On the first couple of occasions we have cooked and turned it on we noticed that cooking smells where lingering round the whole house for a few days.
It was only then that we noticed that the piping from the cooker vent that should go to an outisde vent has been blocked off because they prev owners have built a conservatory, so now the pipe just extracts the steam and smells into the cavity of the house.
I was told that you can get an adaptor that sits above the cooker vent that then does away with the need for external venting but I cannot find such a thing.
other than pull down conservatory and put external vent back on wall does anyone have any ideas for my dilema.
many thanks for you time guys

If you are using a cooker hood in a way which re-circulates the air rather than vents it, you need to use a charcoal filter which should get rid of the smell. All you would need to know is the make and the model of the hood and then google it.0
