Someone I used to work with brought in some nice ones she had made that seemed a bit different to usual and she'd used cocoa pops with melted white chocolate. They were very nice!

  • Unless you particularly like Tesco's own rice crispies, I would say try a different brand. I find Tesco's ones really tasteless & much prefer CO-OP's own (Or Kellogs).

Not fair, I am in the mood for crispie cakes now.. and I am supposed to be on a diet, melted mars bars, yummmmmmmyyyy :T:T
  • Hi,

This is really interesting, I've only ever had my Mum's, and she used just cooking chocolate and cornflakes. I thought they were lush.

I can see why a Mars bar would be scrummy though.

Which led me to wonder, what about Snickers? Would that be better with Honey Nut cornflakes and choccy, or Snickers and plain cornflakes?

Oooohhhh, I see crunchie cakes at the weekend!!

I made rice crispie cakes with Ben the other day

    We used

    tesco brand rice crispies.
a big bar of dairy milk (I find quality of chocolate helps)

and Ben suggested adding some sultanas - and they lasted all of about 10 minutes.

The sultanas gave a little hidden something - they were so moreish! shameful! also a good way to get another healthy option into the kiddie winks! x
    Time to find me again
  • Mars Crispies

    4 Mars Bars
    4 ozs Margarine
    4 ozs Rice Crispies
    Large Bar of Milk Chocolate

Melt margarine and Mars bars. Add the rice crispies.
Place in a baking tray. Melt the chocolate and pour over the top and leave to set.

There seems to be too much of something in the ingredients, so I think I'll have to try it out today... in the interest of science ;)

Oh wow, I've never used real chocolate in mine, but they're chocolatey, sticky and yummy:

    butter or marg
    sugar
    cocoa powder
    golden syrup

Put everything in a bowl or pan and melt it together. Add rice crispies or cornflakes and spoon into cases.

I don't measure quantities, I just go by taste - I have been known to put a spoonful of each into a mug, bung it in the microwave, mix in a few rice crispies and eat while warm. NB, this is why I need to lose 20lbs...
