trace sender of email

hi there

my friend has had a threating email, but it does not display the information of the sender in the "from" field.

is it possible to try and trace where the email has come from and which email address it was sent from.

It does. Examine all the email headers.

If you can get the header information, paste it into here.

That will highlight the sender and provide links to Whois etc.

How much use will an IP address be though? Unless you have some culprits in mind and can match the address up to them?

First, don't bump old irrelevant posts, start a new thread.

Despite the above forum abuse I will make one suggestion:

download a copy of the mail in your O2 account via the O2 pop access server and examine the header that way.

I deleted my question because of the comment made but I've found out for myself how to find the headers and it's via the settings tab, not the route suggested - I'm new to O2 webmail so I obviously hadn't explored enough.

Mea culpa for having a problem and asking for help prematurely but in a place I thought suitable!
