Hi all,
I know this may be a very basic question but I know nothing at all about games consol's.
My son is pestering me to get a wireless modem so he can use his playstation 3 online.
Does the connection speed effect his gaming abilitys?
I am on a 2 meg connection, which is fine for what I use, but would that be ok for his ps3 or does it not matter.
Thanks in advance
Dave
Ps sorry about the spelling in the heading

That would be fine to play on the PS3
Any problems would be if the computers on at the same time and its using a lot of bandwidth (Uploading photos etc will max it out):idea:0 -
You can actually get a LAN cable and plug it directly into the router, that will be the fastest speed.
Bear in mind that the furhter the PS3 is away from the wireless router the worse the connection will be.0 -

Again I don't really understand bandwidth, I guess I don't really need to....
But does that mean that depending how long someone is playing a PS3 it could effect even me just browing the net with only a 2 meg connection.
I don't download pictures or music, but I do browse quite a bit and would not want it to get slow.0 -

Browsing shouldnt nake any difference (Unless you visited a site with a load of hi res pictures which would max out the download connection)
The only way you would make a difference is if you uploaded pictures etc (to facebook, email or whatever)
Broadband has an upload and a download limit. Dowloading tends to be fine whatever happens, but maxing out the upload limit tends to have quite a negative effect on downloading which in turn could affect the PS3 connection
Regardless, thats pretty much the same whether you have a 2 meg connection or a 20 meg connection so I certainly wouldnt worry about it:idea:0 -
