anyone who has been in contact with children can carry them, including your flat mates...its more likely to be passed around the home I would have thought.

I don't disagree to a certain extent Becky BUT I used to be the person in the supermarket staring at the parent whose child was throwing a tantrum on the floor as they did nothing about it. Now I am the parent whose child throws a tantrum whilst I am in the next aisle buying my frozen peas.....

In victorian times, they didn't have supermarkets and all the 'distractions' that this world has.....children were also beaten into submission mainly

I hate that they are 'allowed' by society and by their parents to do stuff that is wrong or just plain dangerous - like running about on pavements without even looking where they are going - like other people are expected to go around them even though they dont move in straight lines...these kind of allowances then go on to create adults who behave the same and act as if there are no rules and society becomes even more dysfunctional than it already is.

No, that's not society - that's the police/CPS and their quest for easy prosecutions combined with this absurd thing of kids not being responsible for their actions. If I'd been a nuisance when I was a kid, I'd have been given a crack on the arrse. Then my parents would have given me one too...

I prefer the Victorian concept of mini adults!

It was the Victorians who invented the concept of childhood - the mini-adult thing was what changed during Victoria's reign.

Sorry Becky ive just chuckled away to myself at the thought of you and poor said poor child dodging each other on the pavement. Hasn't your sister got a baby/child? How do you feel about them?

Currently I am playing the avoidance game - when hes a bit older (like 12 maybe) I will do museums and stuff but it will have to my way and it will be educational stuff about art and London

Doesn't it worry you though that if you have no contact with him doing childish things like running around the park, playing football, that by the time he is 12 he a) won't know who you are and b) won't want to spend anytime with this so called aunt that hasn't been bothered before now.

Not saying that, thats likely just putting the question out there iyswim

I did have a cry when I got into work today-*all men close their ears* as I started to heavily bleed again this morning and have cramps and back ache-day 13 day and was ready to just dump myself on the steps of A&E-but then just realised I would feel a giant t!t if I did that.

Go to A&E Bunny. Bleeding leads to all sorts of complications, and it needs to be looked at. You wouldn't be a tit.

  • My son loved the museum and he is 4.
He would love someone to take him round and feed him information-they are like sponges-he sat for 45 mins listening to a woman tell him all about skulls.

Just treat him as a mini adult then. I find with kids, if you don't treat them like idiots, then they don't act like idiots. They're just people who don't know very much.

Honestly no not really - it would worry me more trying to fake being there for someone I dont like...

If he does make that choice thats up to him - he'll be reasoned enough to do so by then I hope.
