Thank you all so much! :T
I think I have very little imagination when it comes to DD's food..... all your suggestions are great and I would have NEVER thought of them for her!
I guess I have to stop seeing her as a baby and start seeing her as a 'real' person. My DH and I eat some of the things you have suggested but it has never occured to me that I can give her that too!!
Thanks again.... feel free to keep it coming, going to write it all down and stick it to the fridge.2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -

She had cous cous tonight - was not that keen on it but she ate it!
She loves most veg and fruit, just not lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes.
I'm not experienced in cooking stuff like potatoes cakes and quiche (homemade)?? Can you point me in the directions of receipes for these?
I am really paranoid about giving her a 'proper' dinner. Do you think it matters if she doesnt have cooked dinners? I am also paranoid about making sure she has meat (sorry, I'm a meat eater), its really easy just to give her fruit and veg all the time but find it hard to give her meat.... she cant chew steaks, chops etc yet!
Maybe I worry too much?!?!
Also Fresh Fruit salad with chilli can be a desert or main meal and extremely refreshing in this weather.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
A 'proper' dinner doesn't have to be cooked or hot.
Try this
Get an empty egg box - plastic is best as you can wash it.
Fill all the different holes with different things.
Suggestions - raisins, grapes,strawberries,carrot sticks,cheese cubes,pieces of cooked chicken,ham strips,cherry tomatoes,plain popcorn,cooked pasta shapes,little rice crackers,fingers of toast,a fresh peapod to open, dips like hummus,pitta bread strips,breadsticks,and maybe a little treat like a few chocolate buttons.0 -
thats a fab idea thriftlady
kit,as shes 16 months she really can eat all or most of what you eat ,give her a try she may surprise you
also forgot about the easy peasy ( but messy !) " something on toast " beans / spaghetti / tuna / mashed sardines etc
can add some cheese too0 -
My toddlers being a bit of a nightmare with his food all of a sudden, so here's some of the things working for me at the moment.
Pitta pockets filled with bolognaise (with lots of veg and cheese), also chicken curry and rice.
Also my little boy loves salmon loaf (at last something to do with tinned salmon!), really cheap to make can be eaten hot or cold, and can be sliced and frozen.
Toasties are going down well at the moment, he seems to like them with meat and vegies and gravy (kind of like a dinner in a toastie, odd, but if he's eating it and it's got veggies in it, he can have it !
Also home made vegi burgers cut up small with bread, and tortella wrap sarnies cut in to toddler sized rolls.0 -

That's a great idea Thriftlady. Was thinking it would be good for wee ones lunch boxes too, provided that you could successfully cling film it or whatever, so that the ingreds didn't go everywhere - possibly foil might work.0 -
Not an original idea of mine,I think the book I saw it in was suggesting it as a packed lunch.
I expect you could find a plastic container designed for holding craft supplies which might work better.
Useful for long car journeys with littlies too.0 -
