Is this a mouse or do you mean using the trackpad? (pulling the plug is ambiguous - could be turn it off or disconnect a mouse).
  • Its mainly when i use the red dot pointer mouse thing. (its an old IBM Thinkpad laptop.

Unfortunately it also happens when i use a plugged in Mouse.

And disconnecting the cable and reconnecting it doesnt un -stick it.

By pulling the plug i mean switching it off at the mains.

Sounds like a nasty residing on your machine

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

  • I've just started running a full malwarebytes scan now.

I reckon it has to be software related if you get the same symptoms with both the built in trackpad and an external mouse. Whether that software is malware or just a problem program I wouldn't like to say but if it is a nasty then malwarebytes should find it.
  • Okay, Malawarebytes found nothing.
