Offer at last from RBS

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place, we have just received an offer from the RBS, our claim is still awaiting an adjudicator from the Ombudsman, but the RBS have finally got back to us with an offer, they have offered 2'545.72 plus interest at 8% totalling 538.03, I will inform the ombudsman, should we go for their first offer? they have admitted that they been unable to confirm precisly what information we were given at the time we purchased the policy, but the above offer is a gesture of good will,
This will help us immensly, but I don't want to just jump in and accept could someone offer any advice

    Hi there

Its okay your in the correct place.;)

First of all well done and Congratulations on your success.:T:T.
So with interest on top the amounts should be =
    £3083.75.

If this is right it seems like a nice figure, but again depending on how much difference there is in the amounts of the original PPI etc.

It is up to you, if you feel happy to accept the amount, as its an offer anyway and they have not actually admitted liability, to look at it another way, if they admitted liability it should be the full amount, but if there is not much difference (if this was me _ I would accept) but this is your decision, depending if you feel satisfied with the decision and the amount.;)

    Hope this somewhat helps. ;)

  • Great, thats all we needed, It couldn't have come at a better time, I am waiting for a response for the ombudsman but I would imagine it will be the same advice,
    Thanks for your time

That's some good news for the new year! How long has your claim been with the Ombudsman, I have 2 that have been there since Feb/Mar and still haven't made it to an Adjudicator.

There has been some mention on the forums that the RBS were looking at a load of claims with the Ombudsman and agreeing settlement without going to an Adjudicator.

    Well done!!

Good luck then and hope your case will be passed on to an adjudicator soon.;)

  • FOS is desparately trying to get staff to look at PPI - I get invited to submit an application most weeks.

If RBS has provided a correct figure then FOS will not normally consider it anyway - but if you do accept can you e-mail FOS and tell them so they can close the file.

FOS will still record that the outcome for you was better than it was before their involvement - to all intents and purposes that the complaint was upheld and this will show against RBS in its stats.
  • Yep, I have informed them that we have had an offer, by phone and Email but had no response back yet
