Microsoft Security Essentials Issue

My PC runs under Windows XP, and on the advice of my brother, I recently uninstalled SPYBOT & AVIRA to replace them with Microsoft Security Essentials. The MSE scan revealed 4 issues which I elected to "clean". However, whenever the clean process is around 70% complete, it just hangs, seemingly using a lot of resource judging by the slowness of the system. It is not possible to close it with Task Manager as it says that it is awaiting a response from me, even though there is no open dialogue box or whatever.

Any suggestions? I've already run CCleaner against the registry but it hasn't made any difference.

I don't myself use MSE, but would it be possible perhaps to run the scan (and subsequent clean) in Safe Mode?

What were the 'issues'?

If you cant get rid then power the machine down

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')

Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
