Cheap shelves, where to buy, please?

We are about to move into this 2 bedroom house in Leeds we just rented. I want to install LOTS of shelves inside, I mean big and long shelves, to support books but mostly other decorative items. This is a rented place and I dont know how long we will stay there, so I dont want anything expensive. A friends advised me that for a simple shelf I just need a piece of wood and a wall bracket - but I dont know where to buy them?
My husband is hopeless with DIY but on the day of move we will have his friend helping us out and he could install all the shelves for me, if I buy them by then.
Please help.
I have something like this in mind (unpainted wood is OK for me).
