do you mean the cash machine said " do you want 1.41 euro or the nationwide rate" ie did it give you a choice?

I've used my Nationwide debit card in Prague and Lisbon recently .... no machine offered me a specific rate. I just took the cash out and waited to see what rate I got when the statement arrived.

You're quite right, Bal. The rate you get from Nationwide is always better than the tourist rate, presumably a commercial rate. That, coupled with no charges or commission, makes it an even better deal.
  • Nationwide Flex Account is the only account to offer this: 4.25% on credit balances too. Ditch the High Street banks!!

Yes, there is a 'trial' of DCC; http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/29/AR2005072900927.html in cashpoints abroad. Watch out for it.

The 1.41 exchange was offered on the screen or you have the chance to take your banks rate, but it does not tell your banks rate.
