SOGA in relation to used cars from dealerships

Thanks for those who've posted helful comments. I'm certainly not planning to mention SOGA - I'm a little more diplomatic than that. I'm hoping that the dealer will resolve under goodwill or manufacturer's warranty, and I don't actually know whether the original manufacturer's warranty covers this as I've never seena copy of the wording (Mazda have only sent me the wording of the extended warranty to come into play once the original warranty runs out)
TBH I don't mind paying for the work to be done either if I know they're going to fix the problem (although it'll be a little galling as the main reason I bought the car from a main dealer was for the peace of mind that was supposed to go with it).
I have checked the seals and done quite a lot of research on the drainage channels, all of which appear to be clear, so I've not been able to diagnose the problem myself.
The only reason I wanted to know whether I had rights under SOGA was in case the car remains leaky and the cause cannot be found. My previous car developed a leak into the boot and various garages spent lots of time trying to diagnose the problem, but it was never fixed. The previous car was quite old and not worth much, so I didn't lose too much sleep over it. However, when I'm spending £14k on a 2 yr old car from a main dealer I expect it to be in rather better condition - if the leak can't be found (and hopefully it will be), I don't want to end up £14k out of pocket if I don't have to!0 -
I can understand the frustration but the recent weather has been unusual, well for us Southern softies it has been. I put some shopping in my boot yesterday and noticed it was quite damp. This is the first time I have noticed damp in the boot and hopefully it was as a result of the freaky weather, frozen drain hole or something. So maybe there will be nothing for the dealer to find in your case and hopefully the problem won't repeat itself.0

I'd certainly hope so. Saying that - knowing my rights and standing my ground shouldn't necessarily be called whinging.
IMO stricter laws are required specifically relating to the motor trade - it's a bloody minefield at the moment.0
