Cancellation charges from Scottish Power

I was almost bullied by a man on the door to change from EDF to Scottish Power. I decided to do it and when phoned EDF they pointed out that the "capped" price was a con and when I looked closer I realised it was so swapped back to EDF immediately. It took a month to do the transfer back!!! I received my final Electricity bill from Scottish Power and it showed a cancellation charge of £30!! The Gas one will be £20! Have I got the right to refuse payment of these extortionate charges?:D

You entered into a contract with Scottish power tariff that had cancellation charges.
If you cancelled before the change over went through then you would have a case.
However if they were your energy supplier for a period of time then you won't be able to get out of paying.
Did you take independent advise that the Scottish power deal was a 'con' or just take EDF's word for it?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
