sorry shazz77 not having a go, you just reminded me of my wife who turns the heating off in the whole house if the room she's in is too warm instead of turning the radiator down lolNorn Iron Club Member #64

would go through 1500L a year (3 bedroom semi detached house)
500L in Jan/Feb then top it up in July with another 1000L (or fill to the top)
Heating is on twice a day (6.30-8am) and 3pm-5pm. Then if need be a boost at night.

semi detached are always less usage though because the houses are joined there is less heat lost on external wallsNorn Iron Club Member #64

We got oil in oct 500L and got a further 500L delivered 23rd Dec (always worry will run out over xmas).
With the cold weather recently had heat on best part of the day.We will be reordering within next couple of weeks. This is our first winter in our 3 bed semi but am using more or less the same as we where in previous house which was also a 3 bed semi new build.
I rang our oil company and queried our oil usage last year and they said in winter 5 weeks would be the norm on a 500L delivery.0 -
Put a padlock on the oil tank.
2000 litres lasts me a year (8 months use, off in the summer).It's a cold house.0 -
you've got a leak, the burner needs checking or someone is stealing it.
for a 4 bed, 2 rec detached with conservatory and build on garage I would say 1500 ltrs should do you a year.
2700 ltrs does us the 6 winter months. And then we need another half tank to do the other 6 months. Our house isn't heated particularly warm either...Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
So many variables
Here its close to 3000 ltrs a year as well as a stove burning all day during the winter and this is a 5 bedroom detached house.0 -
Hi
I got £250 worth in september ran out this week. Dont know what this is litres live in an open plan detached 3 bed. but I a have underfloor heating. which is brilliant
I think you may have a leak. I discovered one just after i had filled up the kids were climbing up on the tank to get footballs from next door and the mmust have loosed the fittings at the side of the tank. Its worth checking.0
