Not sure if I am in the right board.
Im looking for some simple, tasty ideas or vegetarian products that you can recommend. Not neccessarily recipes, might be a shop bought product. Not totally MSE I know but I cook where I can but I can't commit to 100%.
I am not a veggie as such just occassionally I do enjoy non meat meals. Just cooking some veggie quarter pounders and I have tried (and love) cauliflower grills.
I tried to look for Linda McCartney sausages as I had heard they were very nice but Asda didn't appear to have anything remotely looking like a veggie sausage, just some horrible looking soya hot dogs. _pale_
What products would you recommend for a veggie virgin to try?

Tandoori quorn pieces from the chiller,, serve with green salad and lemon juice, gorgeous0

I really like falafel, they're kept in the chiller in the supermarket and even M&S have started selling them too. (They're spicey chick-pea paties - although the M&S ones use broad beans too).0

Anything by Cauldron Foods - they do the nicest veggie convenience foods, in my opinion. Their spicy soya and black bean burgers are magnificent!
You can usually get Linda's veggie sausages at Tesco - they're nice, but a bit too "authentic" for some people.
Likewise the Quorn Southern Fried Chicken burgers - I'd challenge chicken-eaters to spot the difference! I really like the normal Quorn burgers - they're quite tasty and very low in fat (although I usually scupper my efforts at being healthy by melting on some nice cheese!)0 -
LInda mccartney sausages are good. Definately.
But not as good as her sausage rolls which are out of this world. Im a meat eater myself, but only eat "good meat" these bridge the gap, no rank gristle or mystery meat, even my OH loves them and he was of the opinon a meal without meat int worth having
Im very partial to quorn roasts ( not reeally the weather for them now mind) and if you have some left over you can use in the same way we might use left over chicken, in a curry, in a pie, whatever.
Dalepak do 2 cheese onion & potato tarts and mediterranean veg slices which we have for lazy meals with a jacket or oven chips or whatever, OH likes those tooWe find these in Farmfoods, where they have a brilliant range of cheapie veggie options, much cheaper than anywhere else. they also do nut cutlets ( good life £1 for four, and birds eye mexican bean burgers which are good at same price in a pitta with salad etc )

xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

What everyone else has said, I second. I do like the Cauldron marinated tofu, as well as their falafel. The Tivall vegetarians sausages are great - more like hot dogs, I guess, but lovely stir fried with cabbage or spring greens.
But my best vegetarian product is a can of beans. Chickpeas, kidney beans, whatever, it's dead easy just to chuck into some tomato sauce for a stew type thing, or into a bowl to serve with some dressing as a salad.0 -
Asda used to do veggie Cumberland sausages, if not am sure Cauldron do them. We have one large Asda about 8 miles away, and they stock a huge range of veggie ready made meals, I have noticed they have a much better range than Tesco. I just like to look to see what's available but can't really comment on them, they do sound interesting though. I did try one absolutely months ago, but for the life of me can't remember what it was.
Plain quorn fillets, pieces and mince can be used to make any recipe that you like that would involve chicken or mince. I just prefer to buy the plain and make sauces myself - I know what's in it then, and it's cheaper.
I quite like the smoked tofu - think again made by Cauldron, or you get the plain stuff too.
Am not a great buyer of ready meals, so can't help further than that am afraid - unless I find it hugely reduced, which is rare in my area for veggie products.
Realeat do a range of veggie products - think they do those hot dog things, which aren't really my cup of tea, but DD loves them. They do a veggie bacon which is okay. Am a traitor, love the smell of cooked bacon, but just couldn't eat it!0 -
tesco frozen vegi mince we like and any of the flavours of quorn sausages and burgers are good
almost forgot hubby loves the quorn mushroom pies0 -
