Chucking out old paperwork and guess what i found PPI!!!!

Going through some of my old paperwork and i was just about to chuck a folder full of stuff out and thought maybe I should read it.

Having read it now it turns out I have PPI with Northern Rock. I can't recall having this at all so i'm a little bit peeved ath.

This was in June 2004 and it appears the loan was for £10,678.63. PPI was £5,180.20.
Meaning amount of credit was £15,858.83 and total charge for credit (is this the interst beging charged over the term????) is £6,897.97

Giving me a grand total of £22,756.80

I'm not totally sure what all these differnt figures are telling.

Shall I ring them or write a letter. I have account number etc.

Thnak for help peopel

    Hi Emma.;)

If you require more info on your loan, maybe a Subject access Request (SAR) will be a good idea, but just as long as you have your account number and reasons for being mis sold you can still try to reclaim on this.
You write to the ones who sold you the finance and they have 8 weeks in full to respond.

Going back to the SAR, this costs £10 payable by cheque or postal order, they have 40 days to comply, link here to SAR letter template:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1475553

And here the link to guidelines of reclaiming:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
Check this out here, templates, a checklist of mis selling reasons and so on.
Post all letters by recorded delivery for your proof of posting.

If you want to contact the NR by phone that is up to you, but otherwise a SAR maybe a good idea (if you want to do this of course).

Hope this helps, please keep us posted and give us a yell for help anytime.;)

  • Thank you di. I have rang them and they are sending me the credit agreement i signed. I thought i had but apperently there are 2 different 1s to sign and i only have the 1 of them, so i'll give tehm to next week to send that and see what it says.

If i'm reading it right almost a 3rd of loan was actually PPI, which seems like an awful lot of money. I can only think it was because i was desperate (I had bought a house with no CH, kitchen or proper bathroom)

I hate reading all the stupid forms etc and I don't sign anything now without getting someone to go over it with me first.
