Hi wise eBay board people.
I sold an item last week (thurs pm). I thought I had stipulated postage in 5 working days (usually post after about 1 or 2 but had a busy week). That deadline is tomorrow. Anyway, the buyer contacted me about "has it been posted?", couldn't reply yesterday as had the worst internet connection when on ebay, and then today I got another email saying she was very worried and would be forced to claim through paypal if i didnt reply. I replied, explaining I'd post tomorrow, the 5 working days, hectic week, usually get it out sooner, very apologetic etc. then sent the message. THEN checked the listing, where I'd clearly stated 3 working days, my heart totally sank.
It was a genuine error on my part, but I'm a bit annoyed that I've been threatened with a paypal claim, and I'm worried if I send the item, she'll claim anyway and I'll end up with no item and no money .
Am I allowed to just offer to refund her the money now stating I'm not happy with the threat of the paypal claim?

I agree, I think that is your only way of avoiding a neg and poor stars here. Sending it tomorrow would actually be outside your 7 day period for paypal protection anyway so getting it out today would be even better.
You really can't afford to wait a week before sending anymore, buyers, regardless of what we put in our auctions, expect things posted in a couple of days at most.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. have to say i agree with soolin, I have had a couple of bits sell recently, ive been off work for last week or so ive been going to post office at 4pm every day and posting things that are paid for that day or after 4 the day before and yet my stars for dispatch time have still dropped.
I won an item last week and its got dispatched within 3 days etc the seller emailed me after the auction to say it would be sent a week sat, i replied asking why saying that was 10 days later and they replied that they wouldnt be placing the order for the item in my size till the monday and would get it in stock on the friday and post the next day!! so it will probably be 2 weeks after paying that i get my item!0 -
Thanks for replying. Don't get me wrong, I usually post within a couple of days just not had a second this week.
What is the 7 day paypal protection? i didnt realise it had a time limit.

If you dont send within 7 days you will lose all seller protection. personally I would also offer the buyer a refund on part of the postage as an apology.0

For full seller protection on paypal the item must be posted within 7 days. So sold on a Thursday means your 7 days are up the following Wednesday. It probably doesn't matter except that the small print suggests you can't win a claim for fraudulent use of a card and also that you have no protection against item not received, but I lost the cut and paste on that one and I don't know if it remains in the new version.
It does still say that in the big print that seller protection only applies in certain circumstances, one of which is that item is posted within 7 days.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
