How to switch from Sky to TalkTalk for phone and broadband

I am currently with Sky for line rental, anytime home phone and broadband.
I would like to take advantage of Talk talk's 12 month free on a 24 month contract.
However I understand that I would need a BT line for this, and would have to switch to BT first.
The problem here (part from the time and hassle involved) is that I would have to take out a minimum 12 month contract with BT.
Does anyone know a way round this please?

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Why? You tell me. I'm just repeating what they said to me. Or maybe their operative was poorly trained?0

Talk Talk can't be bothered to set up the line for you, despite their website stating that this service is available. That might perhaps tell you something about how interested they are in you.0

I have just called them again and Sky have locked the number apparently.
By contacting Sky I can have it unlocked.0 -

This doesn't sound kosher. Going to BT and straight on to TalkTalk gets you a financial penalty for breaking your BT contract. The offer is for new customers, by the way, and TalkTalk will not get many of them if they have to take that route.
TalkTalk install new lines. It would cheaper than going to BT (£59.99) - but you do not want or need one. Note the offer includes a connection charge.
So we'll class the information you got as duff and phone the number on the advert again. And again, if necessary.
And then, please, you'll let us know the outcome.0 -

If it was me there's no way i would switch to Talk Talk. I have read some of the reviews on here and lots of comments about very bad service and broadband connection. Also lots of comments saying that Talk Talk 'lock you in' so that it's a nightmare afterwards when you want to leave them to go to another company. If i was you i would read the reviews before doing anything.MFW 2025 #50: £259.20/£6000

TalkTalk will install a new line if needed for 59.99 - you only need a NEW line if there is no line there or if you are on Cable like Virgin....but you should be able to trf from SKY to TT as its not cable. That is unless Sky are being arsey?? I was with SKY paying sooo much money..now on TT, faster BB, no issues and a lot cheaper. Its an 18month contract
I would try TT again and get a different person as what you have been told is wrong. Remember you only usually get bad experience stories on here not good which is why it can seem that TT arent too good!!0
