Faulty Dishwasher Swap or Repair?

Bought a new dishwasher (indesit IDL40) on the 1st June 2006 from Currys, that was delivered on the 11th. After having it plumbed in on Friday (30th June, we had to build the kitchen first!) we used it for the first time last night (2 July). Came downstairs this morning to find the pump on the dishwasher going, a load of unwashed dishes in the machine and a puddle on the floor (which has knackered our newly installed kitchen unit plinths, but that's another issue). We called curry's and they said they would come and repair it. However, half of me thinks that if it breaks the first time I use it I should get currys to swap it immediately, not just fix the problem. What do you guys think?

Cheers

Matt

I would agree, they should replace it. The only problem is that you've had it more than a month, just, and the likes of Curries seem to think that after a month they are justified in faulty goods being repaired rather than replaced. Stand your ground!!!

    Thanks p4u1.

They've actually been surprisingly helpful and said that the 28 days starts from the delivery date so we can swap it now. I'm just torn between dealing with delivery delays for the replacement vs having it repaired next week. I guess it depends how bad the problem is I suppose (which I can only find out when the repair guys comes around.) I have definitely made sure that it has been flagged as faulty on their system before their nominal replace/repair date passes though.

    Yours indecisively,

I'd check to make sure they had fitted the hoses properly onto the back of the machine first then if they have ,get a replacement. Why should you put up with a repaired one when you bought a brand new perfect model?
  • Forgot to leave the outcome. Repair man came round and found that a small plastic ring on the salt dispenser was broken. It was replaced under warranty and the machine has been working fine since.

    Cheers
