Anyone any experience of Builders Traders Database?

Hi! A friend of mine owns a small landscaping company. He has been approached by Builders Traders Database about registering with them for a fee of £200+. They then refer work to you. I'm sceptical and thought I would ask if anyone had any experience of this company? Did you get any work through them?

Is Builders Traders Database the name of it? Just Googled that specific name/phrase, and nothing comes up at all except for this thread.~cottager0

Sorry, I think its Builders Trades Database. I had a google myself and found this:

but wondered what MSE members think? I personnally think my friend should save his money...."I believe that everything happens for a reason. Since they will clearly be confident in their product, I would suggest the following. They give him 6 months free trial. During this period he is hugely impressed with the amount of work reffered to him and he then commits to £200 for a further year.

OK, it seems to be the Building Trades Database, or BTD Ltd:
http://www.btd.uk.com/
with a contact address in Brighton.
Registered office (assuming it's the same organisation) given as Epsom:

There's the thread you found at
http://www.theiet.org/forums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=205&threadid=31359 (one of the contributors is from BTD Admin)
+ also these others:

There may be more.
We're in trade but not the building or allied trades. However there are similar for all sorts of trades and businesses, and we do know people who've had dealings in the past with similar "register and you'll get more work" schemes, and warned us off. I'm not sure of the cost or the details in their cases, but understand there was zilch in terms of new business and they haven't been tempted again.
I think you're quite right to be sceptical on behalf of your friend. However I must stress we have no personal experience of it.~cottager0 -
