Certified copy of a passport

Hi,
I am in a middle of opening a Citibank account and as I filled in an on-line form I need to provide them with documents.
One of them is a certified copy of a passport or ID card.
It also says that this has to be certified by a lawyer, notary public or BANKER.
How can I get this done the cheapest way?
I thought that I would just go to the London branch but they are closed on Saturdays...
Thanks!

Is there anything else they will accept?
Some places will accept an HMRC coding letter or benefits letters.
The Citibank website actually has a place to enter your passport number (I assume they can check this electronically): https://www.citibank.co.uk/personal/banking/passport/index.htm?merchant=citi0 -
But when I went to the bank (the one I have my account with for good couple of years) and was advised that their either can't do it or if they sign and date it, it has to stay with the bank (them).0

Also Post Office will do it for £7.00

Best to check that the bank will accept a Post Office clerk's signature first.0 -
Never seen that glider3560! Have to check if it's any useful to me.
The documents I received say either passpord or id card to confirm identity.0 -
Ive used the postoffice certified service before (not for bank account but something else). but IIRC they will sign up to 5 copies, so make sure you make a few, take the copy and original with you, fill in the form and its all good.
I think as long as it says "certified copy" is acceptable, then the post office signed copies will be fine.14/12/2009 - Official Debt Free Day

Hi,
Citibank themselves will certify it for you if you can get to a branch....

Get a professional to do it, an accountant, engineer etc. Someone with standing. Or failing that, they might let a copper sign it ?0

Tried in police station before with no luck. However, if you have known someone for more than two years who works for the police, they may be able to sign.0

Any solicitor should do it on the spot for around a fiver. Nice little bit of cash in hand income for them.
If you happen to know a JP they may do it for nothing0
