What benefits can I get?

Hi,
I am self-employed 26 year old IT Engineer with no experience so it's hard to get job these days, my income since November 2008 was only £200 as I had some problems and I have been living in a debt since. I was wandering is there any benefits that could help me to increase my income and to get me started with studies? I already called Working Tax Credits helpline and was advised that I am entitled to £51 every week, so currently waiting for the claim pack to arrive.
I don't know much about benefits as I have never claimed before? I know there's housing benefits and student grants but I have no idea where to get some more information about it and if I am entitled to that.

How can you claim working tax credits if you are not working? If you are single you must be working 30 hours plus per week to qualify.
There is LHA to help with the rent if you are renting, it depends on your income and your LHA rate for your house.0 -
