WHY OH WHY DO PEOPLE NOT BELEIVE US WHEN WE SAY 'BOOK NOW' 'ONLY 5 SEATS LEFT'?!!!!!!!!

Someone came through from this site & I got them Turkey, 8/7, day flights (unusual), £220 adults, each child £89 (2 kids) HOW CHEAP IS THAT! When I asked if they'd like to book (as there were 5 seats only) they said 'I'll need to speak to my other 1/2' (ie try & ring round to get it cheaper). Now they had a set date & would only take day flights & max budget £630. I said 'they'll be gone-you need to book now-can't you contact you b/f by mobile?!' Reply being-I'll come back to you. 45 minutes later-call back from her 'xxxx' travel will do it £5 pp cheaper-can you match it & I'll book it now'.....checked seats-GONE.

She was most irate-'you knew I was interested' 'why did you sell it??!' My reply-'seats are on the open market-one push of a button for a family of 4 & it's gone'.

So........no holiday for her-she lost out trying to save £20. It's Peak time now & things shift fast.

So moneysavers-work out what you want to spend & if you get a quote that matches your criteria-BOOK IT. Not worth losing a holiday for the sake of £20!!!

can you tell me the best prices you can get for a flight for 2 adults to either toronto or detroit

going 21st aug or night of the 21st 2006

coming back 8th spet or early morning 9th

from 1, brum, 2, heathrow/manchester 3, anywhere

direct flights please but will look at a stop if its not too much

Because of the dubious reputation that TA (along with estate agents and car salesmen) have acquired of not exactly telling the truth?

The TA's on here seem to be a good bunch, but I'm afraid that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

because they hope/perceive/believe that somebody else has an allocation and they can get it cheaper.

Yup-agree Blindman. Can understand punters being sceptical if say they wanted mid September & I said '5 left' but common sense tells you that in 5 days time the seats WILL be very limited-having been on sale for a year! The point I was making is that 'moneysaving' can blind people towards what they want...somehow maknig the £20 saving more important than getting away at all!!!

Again...agree BUT if its a)-going in 5 days & b)-fits the criteria budget wise then why oh why lose your holiday for the sake of a few quid?

and half the time people try it on...how many times have people off here had a quote from a TA for lets say £549 ...they then go onto the next one and say "I have a quote for £529 can you beat it" then ring round and if the other TA as beaten it, knock another tenner off that quote. I know I have done it myself ...all before the days of the internet but I suppose it still happens and they lose out like I did many time

There are different attitudes to Budgets, as JB the Britannia crew member from the first series of Airline commented, Some people's idea of having had a good holiday is when they have spent all their holiday money and some is when they bring some of it home with them.
