We would like to sell our car - what is the best way to do it?

It is a Mazda MX5 1.9iS, 03 with 72000 miles. Will a Mazda garage give us a fair price or do you have to advertise in Autotrader to get what it's worth?

Probably in that order. Don't dismiss EBay. I have never used Pistoheads but I hear good reports.

Your biggest danger is you will over price it. Your pride and joy is just another lump of metal to most folk.

When you advertise your car sale, under no circumstances fall for the car selling scam whereby an agency calls you up claiming to have buyers lined up waiting to buy your car, and if you pay them £99 they will release your details to them.

I can reccomend pistonheads. For vaguely fun/sporty cars its definatly the place to sell (people on there KNOW what they are looking for as much as anything)

Certainly at the cheaper end of the market ebay cars seem to be selling quite well at the moment, not sure how well yours would go though

This is a bit old/high mileage for a main dealer to take in for resale. They might if it is one they sold to you in the first place and it has a full main dealer service history and it is immaculate.

Generally though you will be better off selling it privately. A quick trawl of autotrader suggests that private sellers are asking about £5000 for a car like yours.
