Faulty PCI Card?

I purchased a usb 2.0 pci for my pc. When inserted and i switch my machine on, windows reports its unable to load due to recent hardware change. I tried to start up in safe mode, it wouldnt have it, just re-booted, i removed the card, and restarted and windows loaded, i re-inserted the card into another free pci slot and i got the same errors. Any ideas? XP Home SP2

Have you been changing any other parts to your computer recently? Windows XP only allows a certain number of changes before you have to re-activate it in a certain time frame.
  • I only installed a PCI WIn tv card in October. THe pc came with windows preinstalled so i didnt have to acticate it.

Should be a number on your mother board somewhere. Failing that , go to the packard bell website and theres a suport page, just enter your PC serial number (should be on back of PC) and it should tell you all the info about your PC.

Try using Belarc Advisor. It's a free little program that will list all of your hardware and software on your computer. This will tell you exactly what motherboard you have.

It's only a small download. Get it here.
