Can an orange phone number be traced

Hi I would like a little help well a lot of help actually. Some Person Phoned a takeaway and ordered £45.00 worth of food gave an orange mobile number as a contact but when my son delivered it it was a bogus call now my son had to pay the takeaway and was supposed to get the money back from the house. So now he is £45 out of pocket and the takeaway wont refund him. He doesnt get a lot out of delivering and cant afford this, but he does still have the orange phone number when he rings it it goes straight to Orange answer phone. Is there any way of tracing this If he went to the police would they do anything. Can anyone give some genuine advice please. Thanks People

I doubt the takeaway company could legally charge the delivery driver for a bogus call - sounds very dodgy to me!

Well I wouldn't be working for a business that did this to me. I would be asking for my wages and saying goodbye. If they don't pay then you probably should fight this.

Out of interest who took the order the shop or your son?
  • I'm sure they're not allowed to take money like this out of someone's wages. I'd talk to the citizens advice.

In answer to your question nobody with the facilities to trace a mobile will do it for such a reason as you have given and Orange wont be interested either

I guess this takeaway are treating your son as self employed and not actually employing him. Even so it is somewhat of a lousy way to treat him

I would walk away from this "job" as he is going to get a certain percentage of false calls and going to loose out in the long run.

Who provides the delivery vehicle if it is the takeaway is it even insured ? Even if it is your sons transport do his insurance company know he is using it for business purposes

The shop took the order. My son only works when they phone to say they have a delivery (no delivery no wages) then he delivers and goes back home but to save him going back to the shop he pays them the order and keeps the money from the customer. what I did not mention the day before this he had another delivery of £30 that got taken and the people scarpered down the back garden with the meal but he found where the person really lived and called the police and they are trying to deal with it but the by the time the police came it was eaten and disposed of. Thats why the takeaway is being awkward i think.
