Generous Companies??

Hi everyone, I've just started to organise another Charity Event to raise funds for Zoe's Place Baby Hospice http://www.zoesplaceliverpool.org/

I did this in 2008 and although I got quite a few prizes from generous companies willing to donate, I felt I was working a bit blind as this was my first time. I was wondering if anyone else has managed to find some businesses that are willing to donate reasonable prizes ? Would love to hear your success stories, I live in the Liverpool area, but am willing to travel if its to get a freebie !!

Most companies have tightened their belts considerably. They also tend to pick a charity (or theme) and stick with it so a list that works for me won't work for others.

Also, I think a lot depends on how you contact them. I write individual letters for all and make them personal and product specific (hence why I only go through the products I use....but then I use a lot of stuff

I spent an evening on it last week and we've had great success with two major tea companies; two big authors.

we are in the process of organising charity events for the charity that deals with my daughters illness

we got M&S to give us vouchers (£50)
John Lewis sent us a load of perfume/aftershave samples
local football team (southend utd) donated a signed football

you just got to write to all the people/companies you can think of
department stores, football clubs, tv shows, local health clubs (we got a family weekly pass from a david lloyd club), golf courses (we got several rounds of golf donated) - anything you can think of!

(we even got a carol vorderman signed sudoku book !!:rotfl: )

our plan is to raffle/auction them all off at an upcoming ball
and we have enough perfume/aftershave samples for everyone that attends to have 1 at their place on the table
should be a good night

I live in Southend area and I support Shoebury Shakers a cheerleading squad who are fundraising for nationals costumes which companies donated i'll see if they could help

I have found that malmaison in Liverpool usually donate sunday lunch for 2 if you have a local charity event-I have had 3 seperate donations from them in the past :-)
