Do ebay act on reports / appeals

or am I wasting my time?

I recently bid on a DVD but noticed in the small print at the bottom the seller wanted to charge £3 P&P (even though it said free P&P at the top of the listing).
When I won the auction I paid via paypal, but shortly after received a message from the seller asking me to retract my payment. I then received an invoice with an additional £4 P&P.

Shortly after refusing to pay and informing the seller that charging P&P on DVD's was against ebay rules the seller raised an unpaid item dispute and I've now received a strike.

I've reported the item & appealed the strike but when I looked at the seller's page the seller is still adding P&P to all the listings.
He/she is now also holding raffles for tv's & mobile phones. Again I've reported this to ebay as they are now breaking the law as well as ebay rules. The listed TV is a top of the range model that isn't even set for release until summer 2010 according to the Sony website.

I had hoped that by reporting these I'd save a few people from being 'robbed', but now wonder - Am I just wasting my time?

    Probably.

If I could change one thing about ebay it would to bring in a trust and safety team that actually does something.

Things do get removed though, occasionally.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

I gave up reporting items months ago due to the complete inefficiency of the T&S/policy compliance team.

I keep my nose clean, do what's best for me and my customers and let others screw themselves over. The shame about it is that it then tarnishes all sellers the same when there is a hardcore of obnoxious co'cktards that go out of their way to bend rules, confuse buyers and generally rip people off.

Appeal the strike immediately, send them details of your paypal Id number and nag them until they reverse the strike.

Ebay and paypal often need a good strong reminder to follow their own rules.

    Thanks to all.
I've had an e-mail this morning. The strike has been removed.

Shame ebay don't do anything to stop him. I've had a look at his profile and the first batch of negative comments and questions has started has started to appear about the auctions. Hopefully that will help people steer clear.
