    Hello!
Just saw your post on IMDs diary and with a similarish (mines larger!) debt I thoguht I'd pop over and subscribe to your thread too!
You sound so positive and motivated, things I have been lacking lately so I'll keep up to date with how you're doing if you don't mind!

Debt management companies - folks on here seem to always call CCCS first. Never ever pay!!!! I'm not on a DMP or anything though, so thats about all the advice I can give you!

    Good luck

    thanks rambling,

i try and stay positive! the debts there now and the only way it is going to go away is if i pay it off. I dont want this hanging over me into my 30s and i jusy want us to be able to live a "normal" life. If you dont mind me asking is your debt including or excluding your morgage?

I have decided to withdraw my house keeping weekly now so i keep track of whats left over. I took out £80 today and what ever is left over i am going to pay off my credit card next Friday. I spent £20 on food today for the week and should only need milk and bread so i am going to try really hard and save soe to pay off CC on Friday! Wish me luck x

just put my house keeping in a jar in the kitchen instead of keeping it in my purse. That way if i need milk i am only going to take enough for milk out with me!!

Sadly our debt is without the mortgage. And we have two of those as we had a forced move so rent out our other flat. Doesn't bear considering at the moment. Unsecured debt gone first, then can start on the mortgage plan.
I just turned 30 last week, so that ship sailed, but I'm hopin gby 35 to be free of these shackles.
Good plan re the weekly money. Its really good to figure out what way is best for you. And seeing money in jars is really useful. We have envelopes for various big spends (insurances, tax etc.) and I know we'd earn interest if it was in an account, but right now I need to see it and do it that way.

i think enevelopes is a really good idea! i know what ur saying about interest if it was in the bank but its more likely to get consumed on other things. I think 35 will be a good point to start as debt free, i am 24 so i am hoping to be in the same position at 35. Even if i am only paying small amounts from say 30 to 35 to make it more bearable, i dont mind as long as we can still live and take are of OHs son.

As the debt is so big i am tryng to take it one at a time, starting my CC which is small, then OH CC which is at 1400. After that anything extra will go off the overdraft ( no money goes into this account - just payments of it ) which is at about 9000 at the mo, so i will be tackling the ones with interest fist, giving myself a good feeling paying off a couple of small ones! I worked out the other day that one of the loans will take untill 2029 to be clear at the current payment plan, which is just depressing as hell!

I am hoping to pay these CCs off this year, a couple of other samll debts like an old phone bill etc and then concentrate on the big ones next year, with more money being paid off these each month as i wont be paying for the ones i have cleared off.

makes sense to me anyway and seems far less depressing!
