Your company can tell you when to take your holiday (inc bank holiday allowance) so in short....yesAlways ask ACAS0

the only thing to bear in mind is that if you would not normally working on those days such as Boxing day which was a saturday then I would have thought you would get a day in lieu for thisAlways ask ACAS0

Not if you worked saturdays and not Mondays, as far as contracts your sat stayed as a bank holidayAlways ask ACAS0 -

Any source for this?
Any employer I have ever worked for has when an employees working days didnt coincide with a bank holiday pro rata'd them onto the holiday entitlement then deducted days for any bank holidays actually taken. The rest could be taken whenever.
If the OP's day off was monday I would expect that the saturday would be seen as a normal working day/holiday and not a bank holiday.0 -
They can tell you when you must take holidays - but they should tell you in advance, not in arrears. You will probably find something in your written particulars of employment which cover this.loopy_lass wrote: »hi does any one know if my boss can (without my permission and no discussion taking place) use some of my holidays to cover xmas day, boxing day and new years day when we were closed ...?
