i really not sure she said everyone is entitled to 28 days, because i have worked 2 bank holidays i got some hours extra, i assume this is to subsedise we dont get paid extra, and they took the hours to cover xmas.
im sure from the posts they are entitled to do this, but i wasnt sure..

The national minimum holiday allowance for someone working fulltime is 28 days per year, this can include the 8 statutory Bank Holidays. It sounds like you get this and therefore if you didn't work Christmas Day (Friday) and the Boxing Day Bank Holiday (Monday) then you would have two days deducted from your 28 days leave. If you worked either of these two days then you would be entitled to take the day at another time.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

As mentioned yes they can, but I think it's courteous to let employees know this. I work for a local council and we close over Christmas and have to use holiday days for any working days included in this, but it was made clear when I was interviewed for the job.0

I would recommend that everyone checks out the wording on their contract of employment and in the staff handbook, so they know exactly what they are entitled to and what your employers can/will do.

Employers generally don't specifically state to every Employee that 'x dates will be taken off your holiday entitlement this Xmas as you won't be in work', because it's common sense that if a Company is closed over Xmas, which includes days you were due to work... it'll be taken as holiday entitlement... they're not going to give free days off to Employees... unfortunately

Only applies if you work a "normal" week, I work 12 hour shifts on a 24/7 system and am only entitled to 19 shifts off including public holidays. In reality I get 24 shifts off but this is over and above the legal entitlement.0
