oyster card

Hio,
i travel to London a lot and have purchased an oyster card for ease really. Most of my trips will be on the tube and the buses, but I want to know whether I can use it on the overland trains to waterloo?

    You cannot use it on "national rail" but can use it if both your start and end stations have the touch points for the car. https://www.tfl.gov.uk/oyster

    It will be rolled out to National Rail stations within the London travel zones area during 2008.

    Additionally, it will be a requirement for the successful bidder of the new SouthWestern franchise (currently held by South West Trains) to have an ITSO compliant smartcard ticketing system in place by January 2009.
