Now Nytol worked for me....(the herbal did make me feel slowed down, slightly easier to sleep, the real stuff made if possible to sleep) but left me with insomnia- please be careful not to take them for too long, it can take your body a long while to re-adjust when you stop!0

So the real stuff gave you insomnia? Hmm..I may just stick to the herbals then as I was going to take normal Nytol if these didn't work.Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

I didn't like them, I have to say they made me feel a bit spaced out!
I do like the rescue remedy you can get spray or drops (it has a brandy base I think so no good if you don't like alcohol) or you can get pastilles which are just like sweets and a bit less obvious if you don't want anyone to know you are taking it. They made me feel better, but I don't know if it's because of what's in them or just a placebo effect but who cares as long as you feel better!0 -
I quite like the idea of being spaced out!Minds are like parachutes - they only function when open.

For sleep problems have you tried lavender essential oil? It's supposed to help you sleep, and can have a calming effect too. Lavender and petigrain in an oil burner is supposed to help with stress too.0

My husband uses Kalms Stress Relief tablets and he thinks he helps them on his 'mildly anxious' days. When he is a little more stressed they don't seem to work quite as well but do ease his mind somewhat. He only takes 2 every morning though.
With regards to the Nytol Herbal Tablets - I tried these last year and found them a really effective short term solution. The effects did seem to die off after a couple of weeks use but they did help for a while.Be Kind, Work Hard, Stay Humble, Smile Often, Keep Honest, Stay Loyal, Travel When Possible, Never Stop Learning, Be Thankful Always and Love0 -
I have tried them (during my a-levels) but i think any effects were a placebo effect than anythingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I can't say it gave me the insomnia- I've had it since I was a child (I kept it quiet from my parents because my parents caused it!- n/b to anyone in a stay-together-relationship for the kids- don't do it!) since then it has always been hard to establish a good sleeping pattern when I was a teenager, that plus obsessive grades and exams easily had me working through the night. Agin re-setting any decent patterns I should have had.
I was just about on top if it when I began uni, going to bed by 1am being up to go by 7am each day but then with the stress and exitement it began to slip as I wasn't putting in enough focus, my focus was elsewhere, I let it go. Until I had nights where I was just unable to sleep at all- I took Nytol over the counter. Fixed! I could sleep! Prompty ran out of pills and being a student £6 is alot to spend on a new box so I tried without. 3 nights, no sleep, next night, sleep the entire day...basicly my sleep was messed up again but even more so.
I cannot blame Nytol on my random insomnia sleeping patterns, but they did not help, if anything made things worse. I'd say to anyone be cautious about taking something every night, your body could get a dependancy and then become used to it: require more to work, leaving you no choice then to take pills forever. I do though blame Nytol for leaving me afterwards with an even worse sleeping pattern then I had before. Instead of having 4-8 hours of sleep a night, I'd get an hour one night, then 10 the next.... makes you dead to the world after taking it (or for me anyway) and so trying to maintain a Uni course where you must be in and able to focus, use heavy machinary for an example, makes Nytol a bad choice.
The herbal type isn't so strong and didn't leave me feeling tierd what so ever. Maybe I just had a bad pot of the stuff?0
